Burritt Bros. X Canuck Place

Burritt Bros is honoured to share our most meaningful collaboration to date, with Canuck Place Children’s Hospice.

In 2013, after attending the annual Gift of Time Gala, owner Keith Donegani and his wife Kate Burritt approached Canuck Place, seeking to make a meaningful contribution to the fundraising efforts of this amazing organization. Our initial involvement included an annual donation of a custom 8’x10’ Tibetan rug to the gala’s silent auction. While this has been a wonderful way to participate and support Canuck Place, our real dream was realized when we were able to collaborate with the hospice’s art therapy class and bring a special piece of children’s art to life as a hand-woven rug.

The Butterfly

Painted in the Canuck Place art room to honour her little sister Kaitlyn, who visits the hospice for pain and symptom management, Brittany’s painting not only acts as a symbol of sibling love and devotion, but the butterfly is also the international symbol for hospices worldwide, representing the life-altering changes experienced by Canuck Place families.

Brittany’s butterfly rug will now be a permanent part of the Canuck Place environment in both the Vancouver and Abbotsford hospices.

The Butterfly is a loving tribute to Kaitlyn and the many other children and families receiving care at Canuck Place. It is also a wonderful way for the Burritt Bros. family to thank the extraordinarily dedicated team at Canuck Place, which provides comfort, complex care, compassion, and respite to British Columbian families during their most difficult hours.

We love you , Canuck Place!
